Biden Administration Immigration Program for Undocumented Spouses of US Citizens

President Biden is expected to make a major immigration announcement today regarding his new immigration program. This new program will provide a pathway to legal status for undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens who meet the specified requirements.

Senior administrators outlined that this policy will allow undocumented spouses who have lived in the U.S. for at least 10 years, have been married to a U.S. citizen as of June 17, 2024, and have met other requirements to apply for Parole-in-Place. This may allow applicants to apply for work permits and deportation protections.

This Biden Administration immigration program offers two major benefits: eligible applicants will be temporarily allowed to legally work and live in the U.S. through the immigration parole authority. Additionally, the Parole-in-Place policy will help these immigrants overcome challenges when applying for permanent legal status, such as the requirement to leave the country and the potential enforcement of a 10-year ban.

This policy may allow eligible undocumented immigrants to attain permanent residency without leaving the country.

According to a senior administration official, the government plans to open applications for the Parole-in-Place program "by the end of this summer," but they are not open yet.

There will be more information that will continue to be released. Stay tuned!
