“The U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021 establishes a new system to responsibly manage and secure our border, keep our families and communities safe, and better manage migration across the Hemisphere”
The U.S. Citizenship Act will accomplish 3 main concerns:
PROVIDES A ROADMAP TO CITIZENSHIP & ENHANCES LABOR PROTECTIONS
Develop an earned roadmap to citizenship for undocumented individuals.
Families are kept together.
Diversity is embraced.
Promotes immigrant and refugee integration.
Stimulates our economy.
Improves the employment verification process and protects workers from exploitation.
PRIORITIZES SMART BORDER CONTROLS
Further allocates border resources with technology and infrastructure.
Provides funding for training to promote higher protection to manage our border communities.
Enhances the “crack down” on criminal organizations.
ADDRESSES FUNDAMENTAL CAUSES OF MIGRATION
Creates safe and legal channels for seeking protection while increasing assistance to El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras conditioned on their ability to reduce violence and corruption.
Improvements to immigration courts reducing backlog and protecting vulnerable individuals.
Offers further support to asylum seekers and other vulnerable people by eliminating the one year deadline for filing asylum claims and increasing protections for U visa, T visa and VAWA applicants.
